Anne Elliot is persuaded by her friends and family to reject a marriage proposal from Captain Wentworth because he lacks in fortune and rank. More than seven years later, when he returns home from the Navy, Anne realises she still has stong feelings for him, but Wentworth only appears to have eyes fo a friend of Anne's. Moving, tender, but intrinsically 'Austen' in style, with its satirical portrayal of the vanity of society in 18th-century England, Persuasion celebrates enduring love, hope and determination as one woman strives to reignite a lost relationship.

Utdrag ur boken:
As she spoke, she felt that Captain Wentworth was looking at her, the consciousness of which vexed and embarrassed her, and made her regret that she had said so much, simple as it was.

En mycket, mycket bra bok av Jane Austen, där man verkligen kan känna medlidande med huvudpersonen Anne. Man vill bara att allt ska ordna sig mellan henne och Captain Wentworth. Underbar bok!

I think this book pretty well describes the time when Jane Austen was young. Then they that were considered noble went to Bath in the summer to hang out, gossip and maybe find his future wife / husband. One of the main characters, Anne, was the old maid in contemporary eyes with his 27 years. The novel ends happily for her.
It was interesting to read the book just because it is considered as a favorite among Jane Austen's readers.
