I really liked this story about the Manth people and what happened when they became slaves of the Mastery. All cruelty were hard to read about but it's a brilliant and gripping fantasy-roman with of cause some heroes too. The warm between some family-members are so intensive so I could almost feel it. A good read.
I haven't read The Wind Singer but I don't think it's necessary. This book is a part of the trilogy but it's fine to read only one part.
